Cakes Etcetera was born in the Spring of 1998 and presently has an amazing retail shop with FREE parking on Chapel Street, Long Eaton close to the town centre, where customers can browse at their leisure. Customers can expect a warm welcome and friendly advice. The shop is an Aladdin's Cave of sugarcraft delights. Owner Sheila McLaughlin has over 25 years experience in cake decorating and was formerly a lecturer in confectionery design at Clarendon College in Nottingham.

She also has 20 years in sugarcraft retailing, starting out in 1992 from home before opening her first shop in Chilwell. Hi Sheila, Myself and Stuart just wanted to say a massive thank you for the cake you did for our wedding! It was beautiful. You really did a fantastic job. Thank you so much. Dear Sheila, You made a poppy themed cake for my wife's 50th - I picked it up on Saturday just gone.

I thought you would like to know - my wife loved it and all who came to her birthday party said how delicious the cake tasted and how elegant and beautiful the decorations were - making the cake really special.
Services
Sheila McLaughlin is an approved PME tutor and offers the PME Professional Diploma Masters Certificate in Sugarcraft in her specially prepared classroom at Cakes Etcetera.
Weekend courses and afternoon courses are also available, subject to numbers, throughout the year.
These are varied in subject matter and are posted on the website with plenty of notice.
We are running all 3 modules as part of our course schedule with each module having 30 hours of tuition (the required minimum being 25 hours tutorial time).
Every cake is bespoke therefore you can choose different flavours for different tiers if you wish.
Some flavours may not stack well but I will let you know and this flavour can be offered as a separate cutting cake.
Taster boxes are available to purchase - see details under "wedding consultations" in the Services section.
If there is a flavour you like and it is not listed please just ask and we will be happy to discuss.

You can arrange a date for collection from the shop or an address in Toton, or you can choose to have them delivered by post for 3.50 extra.
