Experience the great outdoors, with a cheeky peek into the flamboyant frivolity of the early 1700s, in the UK's only complete surviving rococo garden. From stunning art exhibits and fun family trails to outdoor theatre on balmy summer evenings - check out our latest events and courses. Named one of the UK's 50 best wedding venues by The Independent, Painswick Rococo Garden is the perfect backdrop to a simple, elegant wedding or event.

Designed in the 1740s as a fanciful pleasure garden for the owner of Painswick House and his guests, today it's a place to roam free, to get up close and personal with nature, or to feel the warmth of the sun on your face as you take in the spectacular views of the Cotswold countryside and magical follies. You may know us as one of the best places in the Cotswolds to see carpets of snowdrops during early spring, but Painswick Rococo Garden is a fascinating place to visit all year round.

Not just a cost-effective way to visit again and again, but a great way to support our Garden charity and help to fund our ongoing restoration.

Almost 300 years ago - back in the 1740s - Benjamin Hyett designed an unusual garden to entertain his guests at Painswick House.
As the UK's only complete surviving rococo garden, there's nowhere like Painswick Rococo Garden.
Our garden was designed for partying, so it's no wonder we're a popular venue for civil ceremonies and wedding celebrations.
The word 'rococo' describes a period of art that was fashionable in Europe in the 1700s, characterised by ornamental decoration, the use of pastel colours and asymmetry.
They loved to show off their wealth by indulging in the flamboyant and the frivolous, and their gardens became an elaborate playroom where they would entertain and party.
Painswick Rococo Garden was fantastical in both its character and inspiration.
Squeezed into a valley, with deceptive vistas juxtaposed with serpentine paths, the Garden is peppered with charming follies to surprise and delight.
How do you keep the kids happy and inspired without their games consoles or endless hours at the ball pit?
Next time you've a free afternoon and the kids need to let off steam, head on up to Painswick Rococo Garden for some good old-fashioned fresh air and fun.
Discover our amazing maze or set their imaginations free in our rustic play area and quirky follies.
Run free, play hide and seek, and explore to your heart's content.
Most of our paths are made of deliciously soft bark chippings - so no more grazed knees - and we promise never to tell you to shh, or to keep off the grass (unless safety is involved!).
As the UK's only complete surviving rococo garden, there's nowhere like Painswick Rococo Garden.
Whether you're visiting as a family, a group of friends or a couple - or simply in need of some time alone in nature - you'll discover a haven of peace and tranquillity, sprinkled with quirky features to surprise and delight you.
Laugh as your family and friends compete to find the centre of our unusual maze - or beat them to it!
While you may know us best as one of the top places to visit for snowdrops in early spring, Painswick Rococo Garden truly is a garden for all seasons.
The Garden reopens as the first snowdrops are beginning to burst into flower.
They usually start flowering in late January, but a mild winter can see them flowering a few weeks early.
Check social media or our blog for a snowdrop update.
A seasonal dusting of snow can quickly cover any snowdrops in a protective blanket, which combines with the dramatic winter sunlight to produce some unmissable photo opportunities.
