Sorn Castle is currently the home of Jamie and Jemma McIntyre.
Having grown up at Sorn with five brothers, Jamie met Jemma in London where they enjoyed a full and busy social life.
They married in 2008 and having moved to Sorn Castle shortly after, together they continued with their mission to host and entertain which is the philosophy on which the castle has grown.
Sorn Castle has evolved over the centuries with entertaining guests at the forefront.
The estate and castle provide a wonderful backdrop and special platform to gather people and celebrate in style.

We "fell in love" with the Castle as soon as we caught our first glimpse of it after driving through the magnificent entrance and down the private drive under the autumnal shaded trees.
Our review is quite lengthy, but we had the most amazing day, so it is only fair that we let you know about it.

Both Frances and Martyn were there to help us all of the way; they tolerated our indecisiveness and made everything that we wanted come to fruition - no request was too small, and they know what will work well in the Castle.

Originally built as a keep in the fourteenth century, the castle sits impressively on a cliff overlooking the river Ayr and mature parkland, dominating the valley below.
The building was added to with each generation and showcases a wonderful blend of Edwardian and Victorian design.
These editions were done specifically to entertain and amuse guests, which is a tradition and intention we faithfully maintain.

Thomas's father James, was also involved in the shipping industry and owned the Neptune, known to be the fastest vessel of its type at the time and was used during the American Civil War, to gun run for the Confederates.
Following in his predecessor's footsteps, Thomas began his career in the shipping industry and founded Maclay and McIntyre on the Clyde, with Joseph Maclay in 1885, they started with six small steamers to operate tramp services.
In 1886 the Glasgow United Shipping Co. was conceived and by 1896 the company owned 33 ships and was considered to be one of the largest shipping companies at the time.
Following in his predecessor's footsteps, Thomas began his career in the shipping industry and founded Maclay and McIntyre on the Clyde, with Joseph Maclay in 1885, they started with six small steamers to operate tramp services.
