Services
A busy professional harpist for over 15 years, Harriet Adie is known for her intense musicality, creativity, and focus.
Harriet is passionate about her instrument and enjoys the many opportunities her performing career has provided for sharing her love of the harp with other people.
Harriet's introduction to the harp was far from conventional: she first began lessons in Oman in the Middle East, where fishing wire proved a suitable replacement for any broken harp strings!
3000 miles later, she was awarded a place at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music under the tuition of Daphne Boden.
Do I need to feed you?
If your booking is over 2 hours long, I normally appreciate some simple refreshments - a sandwich is fine!
What are your set times?
If the booking is over one hour long, I will usually take some breaks (it is not very good for the back to sit at the harp for more than an hour at once!).
For a three hour booking this would normally take the form of 1 hour playing, 15 minute break, 45 minutes playing, 15 minute break, 45 minutes playing.
For engagements of four hours or more, I will need to increase the breaks to 20 minutes.
Harriet has over fifteen years of experience teaching the harp to all ages and ability levels.
She teaches both pedal and lever harps and has both at her home in Battersea, South West London, so there is no need to bring your harp with you to lessons!
Harriet is a highly respected teacher who in addition to maintaining a busy private studio, coaches the LRAM course at the Royal Academy of Music and teaches regularly at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Comfortable with both complete beginners and more advanced players, Harriet enjoys working with students at the highest level, and in recent years has been invited to give classes at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and The Purcell School.
