R.P. Davidson is a family owned and run traditional cheesemonger, based in Chesterfield.
It was formed in 1960 by Roy Davidson, father of our proprietor, Simon, who until mid-2011 could still be seen assisting in the shop or on the outside counter in Chesterfield's historic market hall.
Our company is now run by Simon Davidson, one of Roy's sons, maintaining the fine tradition of this local supplier of specialist cheeses.
Products are sourced from all over Europe, with prime examples of British, French and other continental cheeses always available.

In 2016, Simon and his team scooped two prizes - Retailer of the Year and Independent retailer of the year.
Once again, The Cheese Factor was represented at Derbyshire's most prestigious Food Fair, held in 2012 at Hardwick.
Our photo shows one of Simon's friends, helping for the day, with his young daughter.
Our picture shows Simon presenting a celebration cheese cake to the two principal presenters.

A Cheese Wedding Cake - something completely different from the traditional idea of a wedding cake.
Surprise and delight your wedding guests with your own choice of whole cheeses, tiered in the traditional form.
Davidsons will ensure you have cheeses in their prime.
But why restrict this wonderful idea to wedding cheese cakes - why not also special birthdays, anniversaries, in fact, any significant celebration where you'd like to do something different and appealing for your guests.
Find someone artistic to garnish it in an attractive manner.

The creamery in Hartington was first established by the Duke of Devonshire in the 1870's, and produced the white crumbly Derbyshire cheese until it was partially destroyed by fire in 1894.
After standing empty for six years it was taken over and reinstated in 1900 by Thomas Nuttall, a prize-winning Stilton cheese-maker from Melton Mowbray, who began producing Blue Stilton at Hartington, a business which was later carried on and expanded by his son, John M. Nuttall.
It was John Nuttall who held a warrant to supply Stilton to King George V, and also during the 1920's a far-sighted regulation - a Certification Trade Mark - confined the legal production of Blue Stilton to the three neighbouring counties of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
