Services
Alpheton Hall Barns are set in approx.
25 acres of grassland and woodland with ancient mediaeval spring fed fishponds in a fold of the Suffolk countryside.
The Barns are surrounded by a further 1500 or so acres of organic farmland, often having sheep grazing nearby.
Alpheton was founded, it is believed, by Aefflead, whose husband Byrthnoth, Earl of Essex, was killed at the battle of Maldon, on the Blackwater River in Essex, in AD 991.
Aefflead was the sister-in-law of the Saxon king Edmund the Elder, and following the battle and the death of her husband, she moved north from Maldon and settled in what was originally called Aefflead's Tun (estate) and probably lived in Alpheton Hall.
The West or 'Ceremony' Barn is licenced for up to 250* for Civil Ceremonies but can easily be reconfigured for much more intimate weddings.
Couples also have the choice of using our Woodland or Meadow areas for their Ceremony.
Alpheton Hall Barns falls under the Bury St Edmunds Registrars office.
They are regular visitors here and genuinely helpful.
The Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, Alpheton is situated adjacent to the Barns and has a wealth of character, retaining its original oil lights and much of its stained glass windows but with the added comfort of under pew heating.

Whilst many couples choose to dispense with formal wedding photographs, not only will there be elements of your day that are so special that you would like to capture them forever but others you might miss and this is where a good wedding photographer and maybe a videographer can really add value.
Weddings bring Photographers for that all important record of your big day and it is vital that you know what you want to achieve and have agreed a brief with your photographer.
We are more than happy to work with you and your photographer to achieve this.
Unless you specifically request otherwise, we will also take informal shots of the day.
Nic is a keen photographer and taking photographs helps to avoid him being mistaken for a guest.
In return, you may get some extra shots which would otherwise be missed for example of the Barns decorations before guests arrive and the evening entertainment once the photographer has departed.
